In Matthew chapter seven verse fifteen, Jesus gives us this warning;

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

What Jesus is referring to here are people or religions that seem to be Christian, but actually are not. They are referred to as ravenous wolves not because of evil intent, but because they lead people away from God’s salvation. This is a trick of Satan. Very few people would knowingly follow Satan, so he tricks people into thinking that they are following God and that they are going to heaven when actually they are following the wrong path. Today, there are many false religions that appear to be a form of Christianity. How do we tell the sheep from the wolves? Paul gives us these instructions in 1 Thessalonians 5:20-22

Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.
How do we test the prophets and their prophecies? By testing them against God’s word. James 1:5 says
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Whenever I hear something new, this is what I do. I ask for wisdom, and compare it to God’s word. One religion that I have done this with and found to be false is Jehovah’s Witnesses. Here’s some of what I have found.

One of their most well known beliefs is that only 144,000 will go to heaven. Well, a quick look at the passages that they quote shows two different groups of 144,000 not one. The group from Revelation 7 are Jews, twelve thousand from each of the tribes of Israel. The group from chapter fourteen are Christians for they have “His name and the Father’s name on their foreheads”. Also this group is an all male group since they “have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. No women! This is in the bible, but in their literature and their websites they leave this information out.
Another bible passage that they quote on their site and in literature is

Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out,.—John 5:28, 29;

This is quote is straight off of their site and is from the New World Translation, the Jehovah’s Witnesses translation of the bible. The English Standard Version, which I prefer says this;
Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
The first thing that I want to point out is the word memorial, it is not in the E.S.V. or any of the seven other translations I have checked. Only in the Jehovah’s Witnesses version. This one word is big because who is it that they say is in the memorial tombs? You guessed it, Jehovah’s Witnesses!
The second thing about this is they leave off the second part of verse 29; those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment. This is because it refutes what they are saying. All will hear His voice and come out, the good and the bad.


Another thing that they believe is that the earth will not be destroyed. This is more off of their site.
Thousands of years later, it was written: "God, the Former of the earth . . . , did not create it simply for nothing." He "formed it even to be inhabited." It is not to be destroyed, but "the earth endures for ever." (Isaiah 45:18; Ecclesiastes 1:4…Hence, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the earth will remain forever and that all people, living and dead, who will fit in with Jehovah's purpose for a beautified, inhabited earth may live on it forever.

The first thing that they do here is combine two verses, Isaiah 45:18 and Ecclesiastes 1:4 into one verse. Also they add the words “It is not to be destroyed,” It does not say that in either verse or anywhere in the bible. Jehovah’s Witnesses do believe in Christ’s thousand year reign in Revelation 20, but apparently not what the bible says next in chapter 21 verse 1;
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
The earth too because of sin, will pass away and be created new, Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe this.
Another thing I found on their site that I found absurd is this;
Moreover, as to other features of Christ's sign of the last days, these facts should be considered: The earth-wide proclamation of Christ's presence and Kingdom has been of a magnitude unprecedented in history. Persecution for preaching has never equaled that visited upon Jehovah's Witnesses. Many hundreds of them were executed in Nazi concentration camps. To this day Jehovah's Witnesses are under ban in some places, and in others they are arrested, imprisoned, tortured, and killed. This is all part of the sign Jesus gave.

Are they kidding? Have they never heard of the inquisition? Between 1540 and 1570 over 900,000 protestants were tortured and killed as heretics by the Roman Catholic Church. Also I have never heard of Jehovah’s Witnesses being thrown to the lions or burned at the stake as the early Christians were by the Roman Empire!
Why are they so deceptive in their teachings? This doesn’t come from God, Satan is the great deceiver. With all of these falsehoods that they preach, I could never trust them to show me the way to heaven.
