God has just about finished His judgments against the world, Satan as Antichrist has been unable to stop Him. Now Satan has to try something to show his followers that he can do something about all the judgments that have been afflicting them. They no doubt will be upset that all these things have been happening to them and want him to do something about it. He will pull out an old card, blame the Jews! The Jews have been hiding in the safe place that God has set for them for almost three and one half years. Now Satan will decide to show his power to his followers by punishing the ones he blames for their problems. Satan will see the next judgment as an opportunity to attack and destroy the Israelites.
The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east. And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs. For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. (“Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”) And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. (Rev 16:12-16)
The Euphrates river is about eighteen hundred miles long and since the beginning of history has been a natural barrier between east and west. Now when God dries up this great river, Satan will see this as an opportunity to gather a great army and attack God’s people, starting with the Jews. To do this, he must convince world leaders that he is capable of doing it. Remember, the last time he tried to attack the Jews, God had the earth open up and swallow the attacking armies. He will send three demonic spirits around the world to deceive world leaders. These demons will be able to perform miracles to convince these leaders that Antichrist is powerful enough to defeat God’s people and end their misery. The demons will be successful in recruiting a huge army from the east to assemble in a place called “Armageddon”. Armageddon in Hebrew means “the Valley of Megiddo” which is located close to the center of Palestine. Many armies have met in this valley from the Hebrew armies of Barak, Gideon, and King Saul, to the Crusaders, to Napoleon’s army to the armies of World War I. Napoleon, when he saw this valley remarked “This is the ideal battleground for all the armies of the world.” This is where Satan will gather all his armies, it is also where God is planning to destroy them.
Revelation 16: 17-21 says;

The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. And great hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, fell from heaven on people; and they cursed God for the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.


When the seventh angel pours out his bowl, a voice will be heard from the temple saying “it is done” This is similar to what Jesus said on the cross just before His death, “it is finished”. Jesus’ statement on the cross was referring to the sacrifice and atonement for our sins that was finished. Our sins are already paid for, all we have to do is accept the payment Jesus made and accept forgiveness. This statement is referring to the judgment and punishment of the sins of those of the world that haven’t accepted Jesus’ sacrifice. Judgment day is about to arrive and God is giving people one final chance to accept Him by showing them His power. A great earthquake will destroy all the cities of the world, mountains and islands will be no more. Satan’s army will be crushed, God will show He is all powerful! God says in Job 38:22-23;
“Have you entered the storehouses of the snow,or have you seen the storehouses of the hail, which I have reserved for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war?
Still, rather than acknowledging God’s power and that He is right, people will get angry at God and curse him for the plague, blaming God instead of themselves. All along, all people have to do to escape judgment from God is to accept His payment for their sins and ask for forgiveness. Those who don’t, will have to pay for their sins on their own, and the payment is death, eternal death. If you don’t want to pay this penalty, I urge you to go to God and accept His payment for your sin, ask for forgiveness and follow Him. Jesus has already paid the cost!
